“[Purple Thread] give a blistering and exhilarating performance that forces you to know you are alive.”
- Halfway 2 Nowhere
Purple Thread are a 4 piece glitter-drenched rock n' roll band from Leeds known for their eclectic brand of blues infused guitar pop. Consisting of Liz Mann (vocals and guitar), Jack Tildsley (guitar), James Foreman (bass), and Ryan Bailey (drums), the band lead their audiences through a genre-defying sea of gritty, groovy noise, rattling their way through blistering live performances up and down the country. Prone to the odd mid-song poetry break, mean riffs, and inescapable hooks, Purple Thread are rapidly forging a name for themselves as one of the most energetic and captivating live bands on the circuit.
With the ‘Something Good’ single launch co-hosted and DJ’ed by Gus from Alt-J, multiple radio plays and on air interview from BBC Introducing West Yorkshire, a DJ set from Alan Raw at the 'Life's A Drag' single launch, support slots for bands L.A. Witch, Skating Polly and Hands Off Gretel and festival slots in Camden, Devon, Derby and Leeds, the band have been going from strength to strength with no signs of slowing down.
In April of 2019 the band signed with Monomyth Records and have since released two singles on the label. Both singles have received high praise both nationally and internationally, been played on multiple radio stations and added to numerous Spotify playlists including This Feeling's ‘Best New Bands’ playlist.
Main influences: Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Blondie, David Bowie, White Stripes, Funkadelic, Patti Smith, Tame Impala, Childish Gambino, Stravinsky, anything that grooves and everyday debauchery.
“What they do is absolutely thrilling and exciting and overwhelming good. This is the best live band I have seen in a long time, and I get to see a lot of live bands.”
- Local Sound Focus
“It’s always near a ‘weekend’, so when PURPLE THREAD is available, you turn on that playlist and boogie like you’d never thought you could.”
"The band leave you wanting more but only once you’ve had a chance to catch your breath and maybe a bit of a sit down."
- Listen with Monger
"Liz Mann’s vocals have much of the nonchalant hard-arse sass of peak Blondie Debbie Harry, complete with Harry’s richer tone. This is a voice that could go far."
- Halfway 2 Nowhere
“Sometimes you can hear a record and know the band behind it are going to be big.”
